A Wiener to Warm Your Heart

Before the reds of St. Valentine’s Day and the Chinese New Year celebrations start to change to the greens of St. Patricks Day, march madness, and the onset of spring, we figured we’d share a little of the mischief of our photography fun and bring you this special heart-warming treat.

This past Valentine’s Day, we brought you a glimpse of a special Valentine card that Gilligan and his Papa got for Gilligan’s Mama, purchased from our friends over at What’s Up Dox Dachshund Shoppe. For those of you who did not see the card, here is an image of it below:

Check out our original post from this past Feb. 14th for more information!

Ten days, five snow days, and a good amount of chocolate later, we’ve decided to bring you our own rendition/ “take” on this Valentine’s Day card:

We just couldn’t resist. You’ll notice a few differences between the original composition and ours, namely:

  • Colors: We just grabbed the nearest striped background and cushion we could set up, and weren’t too picky about trying to match the colors.
  • The Heart: Our more ornate heart is actually a box of chocolates. NOTE: All of the chocolates in the box were eaten before we used the box for this photo shoot, to ensure there was no risk of Gilligan eating one (in case you’re not aware, chocolate is VERY poisonous for dogs).
  • Gilligan’s Pose: The original photo displays a more relaxed pose. We would attribute this to the dog being on a more soft surface. In order to get the pose exact we would have needed to wait until the perfect moment when Gilligan was napping and relaxing, then place the heart on him, and then take the photo, with perfect lighting. As it was, Gilly needed some motivation to sit still with the heart box on him, so he appears somewhat alert because there was a nummy piece of broccoli off-camera, waiting for him once he performed his “Stay” command for the pose.

What do YOU think? Did we do the original justice, or did we take a few too many artistic liberties?

All in all we hope you’ll agree that our model did a fantastic job. ❤

Now you can Follow, Like and Share the joy of Gilligan with friends on InstagramTwitterFacebook, WordPress, and YouTube. Thanks so much for stopping by today! 🙂

Bloghop

This post was inspired by the Monday Mischief Blog Hop, traditionally hosted by Alfie’s BlogSnoopy’s Dog Blog , Luna, a Dog’s Life , and My Brown Newfies for setting up this hop in the past and inspiring this post. Unfortunately, as of the publication of this post it does not appear that a link has been set up for this week. Has Monday Mischief been officially discontinued? Roh no! We will provide an update once available.

  1. I think that yours is BETTER than the original. I love how alert Gilligan looks, and I love the bold colors of your background. Maybe you should sell Valentine’s cards next year!
